What are Royalty Splits?
Royalty Splits are automatic distributions of royalties from a song or release to other users. To create an invitation, the song owner must specify the percentage, the start month, and the email address of the user who will receive the split. The recipient (Payee) must then accept or decline the invitation.
Who can create Royalty Splits?
Active Premium plan users can create, edit, and delete Royalty Splits.
Does the user receiving the Split need to be a Premium member?
That is not necessary. Basic plan users can receive Splits.
Can I send a Split to someone who isn't a Random Sounds user?
Yes. If the email address used for the Royalty Split does not belong to a registered Random Sounds user, we will send an email with instructions on how to create a new account. There is no cost for this.
Can I create Royalty Splits as a Basic plan user?
No, you must subscribe to Premium to create Royalty Splits.
What happens to my Royalty Splits if I stop being a Premium member?
The royalty splits you've sent remain exactly as you configured them; they are not lost. However, you will not be able to edit or delete your sent splits if you are no longer a Premium member. You can continue to receive royalty splits regardless of your current plan.
How long does the user receiving the Split have to accept the invitation?
Split invitations are valid for 30 days. If the recipient (Payee) does not accept the invitation within that timeframe, the Split percentage reverts to the owner.
What happens if the user who receives the Split rejects the invitation?
If the user receiving the Royalty Split (Payee) rejects the invitation, or does not accept it within 30 days, the percentage sent reverts to the song owner.
Can my Premium team members create Splits?
Yes, team Administrators can create Royalty Splits. The team Owner will receive an email notification whenever any Royalty Splits in their catalog are created, edited, or deleted.
Can I edit or delete a Royalty Split?
Absolutely. You can make any changes you like to your Royalty Splits. The other Payees will need to re-accept the split invitation.
