Frequently Asked Questions

Switching from Revelator?
Here's what you need to know.

Answers to the most common questions from distributors evaluating alternatives.

Why consider a Revelator alternative right now?

Warner Music Group announced the acquisition of Revelator in April 2026. For independent distributors, this might create a structural conflict of interest: your catalog data, contracts and revenue will live inside the infrastructure of a Major label that competes directly for the artists you represent. Random Sounds is 100% independent.

Can I migrate my catalog from Revelator to Random Sounds?

Yes. Our team guides you through the entire migration process: catalogs, contracts, configurations and artists. Email us at sales@sounds.co with the subject "Migration from Revelator" and we'll put together a transition plan without interrupting your active distribution.

What do the Royalty Splits and Teams features allow you to do?

Royalty Splits allows your clients to define directly on the platform how to distribute the royalties generated by a release, without the need for you or them to handle the calculations month by month and manually. On the other hand, the Teams feature allows them to assign the necessary permissions to other accounts to make releases, enabling them to delegate work among their collaborators. Both features are included in the Business and Enterprise plans. Growth plans have the option to access them as monthly add-ons.

Is Random Sounds a Spotify Preferred Provider like Revelator?

Yes. Random Sounds is a Spotify Preferred Partner and an active Merlin Network member, the same standards as Revelator. The key difference is accessibility and independence: published pricing, Spanish and English support, and onboarding without an enterprise sales process.

Is there a KYC or verification process?

Yes. Random Sounds executes a 3-part KYC process: company data form, identity verification (ID photo and selfie), and a short security interview about content guidelines and your QC processes. This ensures the integrity of the platform and protects all Random Sounds partners. The process is complete but quick, usually completed within the first week.

How much does Random Sounds costs compared to Revelator?

Random Sounds has plans from $490/month with fixed commissions. Revelator starts at $249/month for the base plan, but the real price for distributors with medium and large catalogs isn't published, it requires a commercial process. With Random Sounds you always know what you pay before talking to us.

How long do royalty payments take?

DSPs send reports and payments to Random Sounds 2 to 9 weeks after each royalty period. After processing (1 to 2 weeks), your White Label balance is updated and paid via Trolley. The total cycle from streaming to paying the artist is typically 2 to 3 months, which is standard in the industry. Royalty advances make it possible to shorten the wait for your artists.

How do artists and clients payouts work in Random Sounds?

Artist payouts are processed monthly through Stripe, natively integrated in Backstage with no additional setup. We also include dLocal for LATAM payments. The distribution reporting cycle follows Merlin's calendar, with reporting every two months.
