Frequently Asked Questions

Switching from SonoSuite?
Here's what you need to know.

Answers to the most common questions from distributors evaluating alternatives.

Can I migrate my existing catalog from SonoSuite?

Yes. Random Sounds supports catalog migration with existing UPC and ISRC codes. We recommend waiting 7 days after removing releases from your previous distributor before redistributing through Random Sounds to avoid conflicts. Release transfers generally take 2 to 5 business days once initiated.

SonoSuite supports more than 200 DSPs. Does it matter to have fewer DSPs?

Random Sounds distributes to more than 100 DSPs including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, TikTok and all the major platforms that generate real income. The difference is mainly in regional niche stores that generate minimal streams. For catalogs focused on LATAM, coverage is functionally identical where it really matters.

What do the Royalty Splits and Teams features allow you to do?

Royalty Splits allows your clients to define directly on the platform how to distribute the royalties generated by a release, without the need for you or them to handle the calculations month by month and manually. On the other hand, the Teams feature allows them to assign the necessary permissions to other accounts to make releases, enabling them to delegate work among their collaborators. Both features are included in the Business and Enterprise plans. Growth plans have the option to access them as monthly add-ons.

How does the Random Sounds commission work?

Random Sounds retains a percentage of all revenue generated by your catalog. You get 91%. Of that 91%, you set your own commission for your artists (the default is 20%, that is, artists receive 80% of your share). On the Pro and Enterprise plans, the artist commission is fully configurable. The 9% is fixed, applies to all plans and does not change depending on the volume or duration of the contract.

Is there a KYC or verification process?

Yes. Random Sounds executes a 3-part KYC process: company data form, identity verification (ID photo and selfie), and a short security interview about content guidelines and your QC processes. This ensures the integrity of the platform and protects all Random Sounds partners. The process is complete but quick, usually completed within the first week.

Can I use my own Stripe account for subscription billing?

Yes. You connect your own Stripe account to Backstage, configure webhook events, and map your subscription products. This means that you control prices, billing cycles and collections directly. Backstage handles 10 Stripe-specific webhook events to keep subscriptions in sync. You keep 100% of the subscription revenue your artists pay.

How long do royalty payments take?

DSPs send reports and payments to Random Sounds 2 to 9 weeks after each royalty period. After processing (1 to 2 weeks), your White Label balance is updated and paid via Trolley. The total cycle from streaming to paying the artist is typically 2 to 3 months, which is standard in the industry. Royalty advances make it possible to shorten the wait for your artists.
